Dear Art Blog Friends

Shortlisting for the prestigious Hahnemühle 2018 Calendar Painting Contest themed Maritime World

We have been in such a whirlwind of activity these past five days since my husband Michael’s aunt and cousins visited us from Australia. Michael doesn’t recall his aunt Sheila, apart from seeing the family photos over the years, as she and Uncle Bill emigrated with his cousins when he was only 2, however, he did get to see his cousin Jean over 32 years ago. Since Wednesday, the family, Michael’s aunt Shelia, his cousins Jean and Michelle and her daughter Sarah have spent 4 nights in Bradford. It has been a hectic schedule so far for the holidaying family which has included lots of walks locally to their birthplace, a day out in Blackpool and a traditional family get-togather over pizza with lots of old pics and reminiscing. They’re now enjoying 7 days in London, followed by 3 nights in Venice before the long haul flight of over 19 hours back home via Dubai.

In all the excitement of these few days, something quite remarkable has happened. A fellow CP artist, Judith Crown has been in touch relating to the Hahnemuhle 2018 Calendar. Apparently my image, Gone Crabbin’ has reached the shortlist of 36 artists and the final 12 will be announced in October. Thanks Judith for contacting us as we had submitted the entry several months ago and totally forgotten to check the Hahnemuhle website announcement.

To get a flavour of those shortlisted, please click this link here which will take you to the Facebook video. I feel so proud of this achievement because statistically it is a milestone for the coloured pencil medium and personally my work has been selected from more than 1700 images submitted by over 750 artists from 36 countries. I’m over the moon!

Have a good Tuesday.

Best Wishes
